We all dream of travelling and getting away from it all. Countryside, seaside, mountains, with friends, family or as a couple: here are our favourite destinations, why not choose the one that suits you best?

Time to party! Hanging out with friends, having fun, dancing and enjoying life; we've been looking forward to doing this for so long! Ibiza is the place to be. It'd be rude not to head to the bar, obviously... but it's also a great opportunity to rent a finca (one of the old drystone houses) with a pool and everything you need to cook up enormous home-made paellas. Take a boat trip to explore the unspoilt coves, get the hippie vibe with a picnic or visit Es Vedrà, the rocky island whose magnetic field is said to make it incredibly spiritual. Along the way, enjoy some of the world's best sunsets.

It's all about getting away from it all. Going to the Moon may be a little out of reach, but why not try Lanzarote if it's a lunar landscape you're looking for? Whether you're sporty or just wanting to chill out, this Spanish island is teeming with stunning locations and landscapes where you can feel like you're the only person there. Lava fields, mysterious dunes, turquoise waters... cycling, hiking, diving, exploring the art of Cesar Manrique: there are endless things to do on the most northerly Canary Island.

Celebrate love. Paris may be the world's most romantic city... but unfortunately it's not nestled alongside crystal blue waters. So love-struck couples should to head to Italy... to Puglia in particular. The fortified walls of the pretty port of Monopoli for a drink, the stunning colours of Polignano a Mare overlooking the Adriatic, the idyllic beaches of Marina di Pescoluse (nicknamed the Maldives of Salento), the unspoilt coastline of Vignanotica, the white stones covered with bougainvilleas that fill the meandering streets of Lecce with colour... not forgetting the mouth-watering cuisine! Do you fancy a taste of the dolce vita?

As free as a bird. Wide open spaces and nature as far as the eye can see. The English countryside doesn't immediately spring to mind as a holiday destination, but nothing beats it for green countryside. And yes, it's true – you might even catch the sun sometimes! Imagine a tiny cottage like the one rented by Cameron Diaz in The Holiday, but this time set in a meadow of wild flowers rather than covered with snow. There are several options: Bibury, a typical Cotswolds village, or Bourton-on-the-Water, known locally as "Little Venice," in the same county. Two perfect spots to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea with scones, jam and sandwiches, take long walks in the countryside and re-read Agatha Christie.

Reconnect with beauty. Extremely popular right from the start of summer, the Cyclades are teeming with amazing locations. Amongst them, the island of Paros. Quaint little villages, beaches for relaxing on or having a go at kite surfing. Traditional harbours for treating yourself to delicious grilled fish, and beautifully preserved byzantine monuments. Why not explore its treasures from the sea? Hop into a small boat to go swimming in the Cave of Antiparos and Agios Mironas cove. The ultimate feel-good holiday, in every sense of the word.

Breathe in, breathe out. Can't decide between seaside and mountains? We have the perfect solution: Switzerland. From its lakes to the Alps, this country really does have it all. Life enjoys a gentler pace around Lake Geneva. It even has a Riviera feel (the nickname of this small region) around Vevey and Montreux, towns that pay tribute to Chaplin and Freddie Mercury. Follow in Audrey Hepburn's footsteps in the charming lakeside village of Morges with its views of snow-topped mountains. And if the mood takes you, the country is small enough for a visit to the Italian-Swiss town of Lugano. Also located by a lake, it's the starting point for a fabulous tour around lakes Como, Garda and Maggiore... choose your favourite!

Getting together. There's nothing more important than family. Wouldn't it be a good idea to get together in a little corner of France? Friendly, lively but with a family feel, ideal for sports fans, foodies and anyone wanting to relax, the Pays Basque could be the perfect place for you. Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Bidart, Guéthary, Ciboure, Hossegor… the Atlantic coast in all its splendour. Some may choose surfing, Basque pelota, rugby or golf, whilst others may prefer to stock up on delicious treats before you all get back together for drinks in a little square surrounded by traditional houses with red roofs and shutters, or looking out to the rolling ocean waves. Life's good!
